About Me.

You have come here to learn about Stephen Silver, and that's me.

I was born in the foothills of North Carolina in the late 70's, but we tended to move around a lot when I was a child. We spent time in South Carolina, Alaska, and Colorado before settling in a small town called Kerrville, Texas about an hour north west of San Antonio. It's a beautiful place situated right in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, and I was fortunate enough to spend my youth exploring wooded hills and swimming in lazy rivers.

From a young age I was drawn to the arts, and always had a sketch book on me. My heros were cartoonists like Gary Larson, Bill Watterson, and Berkeley Breathed. I loved drawing, and practiced at every opportunity. I began my first daily comic strip when I was in the 4th grade. My mom told me they were delightful, and she'd never lie to me.
Unfortunately, my dream of becoming a world renowned newspaper cartoonist smacked right up against reality. I learned that even in the heyday of syndicated comic strips, there were maybe 100 cartoonists in the country who could afford not to be homeless. I was in need of a new career plan that allowed me to be creative, yet not starve.

My junior year of high school I found my answer when I discovered a virtually unused Avid editing system in our Media Tech classroom. In 1995, this was a crazy opportunity for a nerdy be-flanneled art-dork.

Since then I have been continually developing my creative and technical skills in all aspects of video production, with a special focus on post-production.  Every day I am thankful that I get to earn a living while working in a creative field.

Also, I really like pinball.  It's probably the 4th dorkiest thing about me.
